At Freedom Academy, we love any reason to celebrate. On the last Thursday of each month, during lunch, we set aside time to honor students with birthdays for that month. Our admin team will coordinate a group chat to help families plan together.
Schoolwide, we look forward to our Christmas Party and Sock Exchange each December and a Valentine's Day celebration in February.
Throughout the year each classroom finds its own ways to mark holidays and special occasions together. Additional celebrations vary by class and come together organically as the year unfolds.
Parents are occasionally invited to contribute to classroom celebrations. Watch for updates in Telegram.

Freedom Academy will not make-up days for severe weather unless we have to close for more than 4 consecutive days. When possible, we will plan to send lessons home with students so they can stay on track. We will stay in communication with you about the plans to reschedule any missed days.
Policies
-
If your child has a headache, stomach ache, has thrown up, has a sore throat, diarrhea, rash, or fever they may not attend Freedom Academy until they are symptom-free for 24 hours without medications, natural medicines, or interventions.
If a child becomes ill while at Freedom Academy, the parent or emergency contact will be notified immediately to pick the child up. The student will need to be symptom-free, without medication, natural medicines, or interventions for 24 hours before returning.
Due to limited on-site resources, our staff is equipped to provide only basic first aid. In the event of a significant hygiene incident, parents will be contacted immediately and asked to come promptly to assist their child and, if needed, support cleanup.
-
At Freedom Academy, we understand the unique needs of homeschooling families and do not adhere to traditional attendance requirements. This gives families the freedom to travel, pursue outside educational opportunities, attend events, and more.
That said, regular participation matters. Coop days are built around group instruction and collaborative learning, and students who miss frequently can fall behind in ways that affect the whole class. We ask that families treat co-op days as a priority and communicate absences to your child's teacher in advance so missed work can be arranged promptly.
Learning doesn't stop when your child leaves our building. Parents are expected to stay actively involved at home: reading together, checking in on assignments, discussing what was covered that day, and addressing any struggles early. If we notice a student falling behind, we will reach out and expect parents to partner with us on a plan.
Your child's tuition secures their place in our program regardless of attendance. What keeps that place meaningful is the partnership between our educators and your family.

Our dress code guideline is simple: modesty, comfort, and practicality. Students should be dressed to move, play, and get a little messy without worry.
A few things to keep in mind:
Clothing should not be revealing, see-through, or overly tight. Tops should fully cover the midriff and waistband.
Girls are encouraged to wear playground shorts under skirts and dresses.
Straps should be at least two fingers wide.
Shoes should be comfortable, secure, and closed-toe. Crocs, flip flops, and high heels are not permitted.
Clothing with inappropriate, immoral, or illegal words or images is not permitted.
Masks or anything covering a student's face is not permitted.
Pajamas, costumes, and bathing suits are not permitted unless part of a class themed day or event.
When in doubt, ask yourself: is this outfit ready for a full day of learning and playing? If yes, you're good to go.

Freedom Academy Co-op operates within a commonly used space at First Baptist Church in Cocoa Village. Due to this we are not allergen-free facility.
Children eat snacks and lunch at common tables, may participate in monthly birthday celebrations or seasonal activities involving food, and come into contact with common allergens during daily activities. Therefore, foods may come into contact or be prepared on surfaces exposed to common allergens, including: wheat, dairy, eggs, peanuts, and tree nuts.
We are unable to accommodate any severe allergies or dietary restrictions to the following foods: wheat, gluten, dairy, eggs, peanuts and tree nuts.
Any minor allergies or dietary restrictions may be able to be accommodated by coordinating with families to provide alternative options. It is important that any allergies or dietary restrictions be clearly stated on your child’s registration form.

Good communication is key, and we offer several ways to stay connected: Telegram App: Families must download the Telegram app and join the Freedom Academy private chat group. You'll be added to the main chat, announcement group, and your child’s classroom group. You can also message tutors directly through the app. Email: Occasionally, we’ll send emails with important updates, links, or forms. Please provide an active, regularly checked email address during registration. Face-to-Face: For sensitive or in-depth conversations, such as concerns or major updates, please schedule a meeting with your child’s teacher to ensure ample time and attention. We’re here to support you, so don’t hesitate to reach out!

Students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade do not need to bring electronic devices. Students in 3rd through 7th grade should bring a device and headphones every day, as they are needed for parts of their curriculum. Outside of assigned activities, devices stay in backpacks.
Cell phones should be silenced and kept in backpacks throughout the day. Smartwatches should be set to silent with parent controls enabled during co-op hours. If a device becomes a distraction, we may ask that it stay home going forward.
Devices are never permitted for personal browsing, games, social media, music, or apps outside of assigned schoolwork. Photos, videos, and audio recordings are not permitted at Freedom Academy, both to protect the privacy of others and to keep our environment focused.
In an emergency, we will always provide a phone for your child to reach you.
Toys & Personal Items
Please keep toys, balls, outdoor toys, stuffed animals, trading cards, and other special items at home. We know they're beloved, but they become distractions during the day and feelings get hurt when things are lost or broken.
