Where Childhood & Education Belong Together
Serving homeschool families in Cocoa, FL since 2020
Freedom Academy was born in 2020 out of a simple conviction: children learn best when they feel known. We exist for families who want more than a seat in a classroom. They want educators who see their child as an individual, a program that balances academics with the joys of childhood, and a community that feels like an extension of home. If you've ever felt like your child's school was teaching to a standard instead of to your kid, you're in the right place.
This isn’t Your Typical Co-op
Freedom Academy meets four days a week, 9AM to 2PM. This is your child’s school community, not a supplement to one. (Grades 6+ meet three days a week)
Our small classes and experienced tutors allow us to meet each child where they are, not where the curriculum says they should be.
Freedom Academy is built on a Christian foundation. Our faith is woven into daily devotionals, our curriculum recommendations, and our belief that each child in our care is created by God. We celebrate Christmas and Easter and approach American history through the lens of the country’s Christian founding. We welcome families of all faith backgrounds and asks only that our beliefs are acknowledged and respected within our program.
Parents aren’t volunteers in the classroom. You are the primary educator of your child, and Freedom Academy is your partner, not your replacement. We handle the daily academic experience; you remain responsible and engaged in your child’s education at home.
What Does a Day Look Like?
Early Elementary (K-3)
For our younger students, days are filled with hands-on learning, rich storytelling, imaginative play, and the kind of relationship-building that makes kids actually want to show up.
Our K–3 students attend four days a week, Monday through Thursday, 9AM to 2PM.
Upper Elementary (4-7)
For our older students, the rhythm shifts toward more structured academic work, critical thinking, and growing independence, while still honoring the pace and personality of each learner.
Our 4–5 students attend four days a week. Our 6–7 students attend three days a week, Monday through Wednesday, with Thursdays open for additional co-op programs and electives.
Meet the Team
Freedom Academy Coop operates as an LLC and is recognized by Step Up for Students as a part-time tutoring service. Each Freedom Academy family maintains their own homeschool status and is responsible for meeting any requirements to stay compliant. Here is what this looks like in practice:
Families determine, and register for, the best path for registering as homeschoolers and are responsible for understanding their chosen program's requirements. Options include registering with Brevard Public Schools, enrolling in a Personalized Education Program (PEP) through a scholarship provider, or registering with an umbrella school.
Freedom Academy provides portfolio content and conducts end-of-year evaluations to support your compliance requirements.
Parents are responsible for maintaining a portfolio for two years, completing any end-of-year testing (required by SUFS), and any additional requirements set up by your umbrella school or homeschool program.
